Inch / Inse
Famous for being the place where an inch is actually three miles long, the fantastic beach at Inch has been chosen several times as a film location. Hollywood movies that are familiar household names include "Ryan's Daughter" and "Playboy of the Western World". With continuous barrage of long rolling waves that come crashing ashore, it is easy to see why this dramatic setting has been picked time and time again.
A popular attraction for bird-watchers is the nature reserve behind the banks of sand dunes on the strand. These wetlands are important wintering grounds for many ducks and waders.
Similar to a lot of villages on the Dingle Peninsula, Inch is dispersed over a wide area rather than having a nucleus where everything is gathered. Facilities such as pubs and eating places are scattered along the seafront. There are in fact two pubs and a restaurant in the area.

Anascaul / Abhainn an Scáil
Anascaul is the first real village since leaving Tralee that actually has a nucleus. With a main street boasting no fewer than eight pubs and only two shops, it is an indication of a good social scene. Passing through the village, one will note it's smart and tidy layout. Then seeing the "South Pole Inn", an historic link comes to mind. It is of course that of the famous Antarctic explorers Scott and Shackleton.
Locally known as the "Unsung Hero", Tom Crean played a vital part in several expeditions under both Scott and Shackleton. After retiring from the naval service Crean returned to his home town to set up what is now the "South Pole Inn". He is fondly remembered through both a visual exhibition of spectacular Antartic photographs in the pub and also by a bronze statue across the road.
