When walking the Dingle Way in a clockwise direction, the village of Camp is around a kilometer north of the trail. There is no real centre to the village as various shops and pubs are spread out over a large area. Camp is beautifully situated, looking northwards to Tralee Bay and having the impressive slopes of the Caherconree Mountain as a backdrop to the south-east.

Camp still remembers bygone days when the Tralee to Dingle steam train used to stop in the area. For over sixty years, it hauled thousands of passengers between the two towns until finally closing down in 1953. The local 'Railway Tavern' stands testament to the importance to that period and houses all sorts of associated memorabilia.
